CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Here at John Pass Jewellers we pride ourselves on our key pillars and corporate social responsibility is one we hold dearly to our hearts, led passionately by Andrew Pass.

CSR reflects how we wish to operate: fairly, responsibly, and sustainably.

OUR COLLEAGUES

We are proud to be a family business and family values are instilled within the entirety of our team. The colleagues are the heart of our business, so we ensure every member of our team are respected, valued and equipped with the necessary tools to develop their full potential. In return, we expect our colleagues to contribute to our company culture, embodying our common values and providing our clients with an unforgettable experience.

We live by the motto “A great place to work. A great place to shop.”.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY POLICY

John Pass Jewellers are an Equal Opportunities employer. Our recruitment process allows everyone to have fair and equal access to employment opportunities.

Any acts of discrimination are dealt with in accordance with our internal policies.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

We understand the importance of having highly-skilled and knowledgable colleagues within the company, which is why we offer training and education across the business to all of our colleagues.

Most of our team have received JET training, an independent course run by the NAJ (National Association of Jewellers) which is designed to give our colleagues the tools to thrive in any environment within the jewellery trade. Our colleagues are actively encouraged to complete online modules and external training with our brand partners, ensuring they have the most current and up to date knowledge.

OUR SUPPLIERS

At John Pass we ensure that our products will always be priced fairly, and competitively in correspondence with the quality of the product that we provide.

We are committed to only partnering with brands and manufacturers who focus on producing a quality product in a responsible way. Many of the brands and manufacturers we already work with are certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).

Recycled Gold & Silver is becoming more readily available within the trade and we are proud to know that some of our suppliers have made the switch to using completely recycled metals. When receiving in-house repairs, we do our best to use recycled metals, sourced from a member of the RJC.

Our diamonds are sourced through companies adhering to the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. We adhere strictly to this policy and only deal with trade suppliers of diamonds that comply with this scheme. Further detailed information on the Kimberley Process is available at www.kimberleyprocess.com

OUR ENVIRONMENT

We strive to conduct our business in a responsible, sustainable manner in order to protect the environment, in 2021-2022 we started a journey to become a carbon neutral business, not only that but become the first carbon neutral jewellery store in the UK. A journey we completed in 2022 earning us the title of Ethical/Sustainable Jewellery Business of the Year at the 2022 Retail Jeweller awards, whilst Andrew Pass won Retail Leader of the Year at the 2022 Professional Jeweller awards.

As an organisation, we comply with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, and all legal duties and obligations imposed by other Environmental Acts and Regulations.

OUR COMMUNITY & CHARITY

As a family business which has been involved in our local community for 75 years we always look at how we can give back. This year, 2023, we marked our 75th anniversary which sparked a movement ’75 moments of kindness’. This initiative has seen us supporting local schools, litter picking and street cleaning alongside donations to local charities and many more wonderful contributions.
